Callaloo is a dating app built on one idea: one pot, many flags. Wherever your people are from — and however many islands that is — you show up here as your whole self. Your heritage flags. Your anthem. Your languages. Prompts that actually sound like us.

Culture first

Most apps make you translate yourself. Here, the culture is the starting point.

• Island flags. Pick the flag or flags that tell your story — Jamaica and Trinidad, Haiti and Brooklyn, Guyana by way of London. There's no single “Caribbean” box to squeeze into.
• A music anthem. One song on your profile that says what a bio can't.
• Prompts written for us. Questions about food, family, fêtes and faith that give people something real to reply to.

Heritage is identity here, never a ranking signal. We don't score attractiveness, and we'll never offer filters that let anyone exclude people by ethnicity or skin tone.

Trust & safety, free for everyone

Every safety feature in Callaloo is free. Not the good ones — all of them.

• Verification. Selfie-based profile verification at launch, so the person you're talking to is the person in the photos.
• Block and report. Always free, reviewed by automated systems and real people.
• Coarse location by design. We take one low-accuracy reading, snap it to a roughly 1 km area on our servers, and discard the precise coordinates — they're never stored. Distance shown to others is approximate, you can hide it for free, and if too few members share your area we hide it for everyone automatically. No background location tracking, ever.
• LGBTQ+ discretion. In places we classify as higher-risk, location is automatically made coarser and distance is hidden — no setting to remember. A Safety Center adds an app lock and a discreet app icon.

And the quiet part: no ads, no data brokers, and we never sell your personal data.

Free to actually talk

Callaloo is designed for the date, not the dwell. Matching is free. Messaging is free — for everyone, with no message limits behind a paywall. Basic filters are free. Paid tiers (Callaloo+ and Callaloo Gold) add convenience and reach — see who likes you, advanced filters, Boosts, Roses — but nothing you need to meet someone costs money. And if you ever subscribe and change your mind, cancelling is one honest tap to your app store. No traps.

Coming to iOS and Android

We're launching metro by metro, starting with Brooklyn and South Florida, then more cities across the US, UK and Canada. Callaloo is for adults 18 and over, on iPhone and Android.
