Support

Need a hand? We're a small team, but we read every message and aim to reply within 2 business days. Below are answers to the questions we hear most — and if yours isn't here, just write to us.

Contact us

For anything support-related — account trouble, billing questions, bugs, or feedback — email support@callaloo.app.

For privacy requests (data access, correction, deletion questions), email privacy@callaloo.app. You can also handle most privacy actions yourself, right in the app — see below.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so cancellation happens in your app store: in Callaloo, go to Settings → Manage / cancel subscription and we'll show you exactly where to go, step by step. No surveys, no "are you sure?" mazes, no retention tricks.

You keep your paid features until the end of the period you already paid for. And remember: matching, messaging, and every safety feature stay free whether or not you subscribe.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Delete my account. Your profile is hidden immediately, and after a 30-day grace period everything is permanently erased — your profile, photos, prompt answers, messages, and matches. If you change your mind, just sign back in during those 30 days and cancel the deletion. The only exception: safety and report records may be kept longer where that's required to keep the community safe or by law. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your app store too (see above) — deleting your account doesn't automatically stop store billing.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → Export my data and we'll prepare a full, machine-readable copy of your information. No email chains, no waiting on a support ticket — it's built into the app because it's your data.

How does distance and location work?

Callaloo never stores your precise location. The app takes a low-accuracy fix, our server snaps it to a grid cell roughly 1 km across, and the raw coordinates are discarded. Distances other members see are approximate and based on those cells — and if fewer than 3 members share your cell, we hide distance entirely so no one can narrow you down. You can also hide your distance completely, for free, right from your profile. In places we classify as higher-risk for LGBTQ+ people, we automatically make location coarser and force-hide distance. There is no background location tracking, ever.

How do I report or block someone?

Both are free and available from any profile or any chat — look for the report and block options in the menu. Blocking removes them from your world instantly: they can't see you, message you, or find you again. Reports go to a combination of automated systems and human reviewers; the person you report is never told who reported them. If something serious happens, please also contact us at support@callaloo.app so we can follow up directly.

What is verification?

Verification is rolling out now: a quick selfie check that confirms the person in the photos is the person behind the profile. Verified members get a single verified indicator by their name. It's free, it keeps the community real, and it's one of the best signals that who you're talking to is who they say they are. One honest note: we do not run criminal background checks on members, so verification is a strong signal — not a guarantee.

Safety resources

Meeting someone new should feel exciting, not risky. A few things we always recommend:

If you're ever in immediate danger, call your local emergency number — 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK. You'll also find more tools — app lock, a discreet app icon, and support resources — in the Safety Center inside the app.

Tell us what's missing

Callaloo is built for the community, with the community. If something here didn't answer your question, or you have an idea that would make the app better, we genuinely want to hear it — write to support@callaloo.app.
